How To “Sign Up” To Get Your Updates. And Why You Have To Confirm Your Email Address.

Step 1. Enter You First Name, Last Name and a Valid Email Address inside the boxes so labeled on the form.

A valid email is required because we send the download link to this email address. If your email inbox is full or invalid because it is mispelled in any way - YOU WON’T GET THE EMAIL - and you will need to chase me up to give you another link which wastes your time. This could delay you getting the product for up to 48 hours depending on Where in the World you are, compared to myself in Australia.

Step 2. Click the button at the bottom of the form.

This button may be labelled Submit or it may have a phrase on it that says something like ” Send me my product, Send me information, or Yes! I want to read your newsletter as well! The message itself is merely marketing - the essential thing is that when you click this button it sends an email to an autoresponder. When the autoresponder receives this form input, it in turn send you it’s first automatic reply.

Step 3. Check your email inbox and find the email we sent

Sounds simple doesn’t it! Yet this is the step where the process so often comes unstuck. If you check your email inbox and find the email then go to step 4.

It should take less than 5 minutes to receive the email, in most cases it is mere seconds. If you check your email inbox and can’t find the email then you have to look in the most likely place for it. Generally this is the junk mail folder or spam folder of your email account. Spam filters are sometimes so aggressive that any email from an unknown address gets placed here so you can check it and decide if its something you want to read or not.

If the email is here, the problem is solved. You can save yourself time and ensure that the next email won’t be a problem by clicking on the “not junk” icon (or similar) to “whitelist” the email address. If you have signed up to receive newsletters, please read the instructions on whitelisting so you never have to go email hunting for any emails you may receive from different web addresses.

If the email isn’t in the inbox or the spam folder then you may have mispelled the email address. In that case use the Contact Us form to request another download link. As I can only send an email to a valid email address - check the email address you use here very carefully.

Sometimes inboxes have a limited capacity. When they get too full the service returns the email to the sender and you don’t see it. If this is the case then you may have had a message to say your box is full. If you only access emails online you may not have noticed it. You need to empty your inbox by deleting those emails you don’t want to keep before you can receive more emails.

If this is a consistent and annoying problem, I recommend you to get a free gmail account which has a huge capacity so this rarely becomes a problem.

Step 4. Click the blue link in the email to confirm your name and email address

We use a professional email autoresponder service because spamming - the practice of sending unasked for emails (like junk mail in your letter box) has become a huge time wasting problem for email users. If your email inbox is overfull you probably have been spammed often.

To overcome hoaxers, hackers and spammers, the government and professional email services devised a legal system to confirm that the person whose email is entered in a form is the same person who wants to receive the information. Professional autoresponders must comply with this system to operate in accordance with Can Spam Laws.

This protects you from spam in two ways.

  1. No one can mailiciousely sign you up for newsletters you know nothing about (because you simply don’t click the confirm link if you are not sure where an email came from).
  2. Professional autoresponder services have a one click unsubscribe feature. This means that every newsletter that is sent from them has a link at the bottom to an easy unsubscribe page. When you don’t want more emails, click this and change your subscription details to unsubscribed and the sequence stops.

So how does it work?

A professional autoresponder will send their first email with a link to a confirmation page. When you click this link it takes you to webpage. This visit is logged by the autoresponder and “confirms” that you got their first email and that you want the next email. So they tick you as a subscriber and send you the next email in the sequence.

Step 5 and 6
  1. Check your email inbox and find the second email we sent
  2. Click the link in this email to go to the page where you can download your purchase.

Assuming you have now received the first email and confirmed your email address with the autoresponder, these steps should be a breeze. The link in the second email will take you to a webpage. On that page you will be able to click on the product links on the page to start the download process of your purchase to your computer.
